Vancouver, BC to Fairbanks, Alaska – 14-day Cruise/Land Tour

Please get your passport in order for this fabulous cruise vacation.  You’ll begin by flying into Vancouver, BC and enjoying the sights of Vancouver and Victoria for a couple of days.  Then board your Ship for a picturesque sailing of the Inside Passage to Anchorage.

While in Vancouver and Victoria, BC enjoy two full days sightseeing and touring.  Visit Bastion Square, discovering what’s beautiful about the Queen Elizabeth park and gardens, Chinatown, or the breathtaking Lion’s Gate Bridge.

Set Sail and enjoy a relaxing day cruising the Inside Passage, a thousand miles of protected waterways with land close on each side of the ship. Explore the many fine amenities and activities aboard your 5-Star floating resort, or just kick back and watch the wonderful scenery glide smoothly by. Enjoy the Captain’s Welcome Aboard Cocktail Party and dinner.

The fishing village of Ketchikan, perched in the small space between mountains and sea, is the first port of call. Your tour will give you this town’s colorful history and take you past the site of what was once the world’s largest wood pulp mills to Totem Bight State Park, a former native campsite on the shoreline, where beautifully-carved totems stand silently among cedar and hemlock trees. Juneau is Alaska’s state capital, but you can only reach it by air or water – no roads connect it with the rest of the world. Visit the Macauley Fish Hatchery and the Mendenhall Glacier. Skagway is a step back in time with its false-fronted buildings and wooden boardwalks, perfectly preserved as the Klondike Gold Rush National Historic Park and gateways to the Trail of ’98, which you may explore by vintage railcar. In Skagway, find time to visit the Red Onion Saloon with its costumed bar maids and honky- tonk piano. A Biosphere Reserve and World Heritage Site, Glacier Bay National Park protects a unique ecosystem of plants and animals living in concert with an ever-changing glacial landscape. Your cruise ship will be your visitor center for this unforgettable day. Sail on to the Gulf of Alaska. This is your last full day aboard your luxurious floating resort. Be sure to take full advantage of all the many activities aboard ship.

After breakfast, you will disembark in Seward, Alaska. A deluxe motorcoach will take you to Alaska’s largest city, Anchorage; with a stop at Portage Glacier. At Portage Glacier, you will cruise across Portage Lake while you view the glacier and watch for fractures of ice break off the glacier. After lunch, enjoy a tour of the historic points of interest in downtown Anchorage; then on to the Alaska Aviation Heritage Museum for an exploration of Alaska’s aviation history. Then drive past Lake Hood, the busiest floatplane base in the world. You will enjoy a nice dinner at your hotel.

Transfers to the McKinley Explorer railroad station begin at 7:15 AM. Breakfast and lunch aboard the train is included and full bar service is available. Enjoy spectacular scenery in the wild Alaskan interior as you travel to Denali National Park & Preserve. Watch in awe from the observation lounge as you glide past rivers, waterfalls, mountains and valleys. Keep watch for bald eagles, swans and beaver lodges as you enjoy the elegant onboard dining. Your accommodations for the evening are at the McKinley Chalet Resort.
