Going to the United Kingdom has always been a favorite of mine…you know – The Beatles, the Rolling Stones, the Dave Clark 5…oh, no – I’m dating myself…heck – those were the days to walk Abbey Road, don’t you know…anyway, this 9-day vacation is well worth the trip across the pond.  Here is a sample Itinerary leaving on a fictitious June 19 in whatever year you want…

• Day 1 & 2 London, England: Welcome to London! Uniformed Globus Hosts are available to help you make the most of your stay. After a hearty English breakfast, morning sightseeing includes all the famous landmarks: Free time in the afternoon for independent activities or to join an excursion to Windsor Castle or the Tower of London.
• Day 3 London; Stonehenge; Bath: Meet your Tour Director and day of sightseeing. First, prehistoric STONEHENGE monument up close. Cross Salisbury Plain to Georgian city of Bath, where you see the ROMAN BATHS excavations. You will also have time to explore the town further on your own.
• Day 4 Bath; Stow-On-The-Wold; Stratford-Upon-Avon; Wales; Chester, England: Savor vistas on your way to Chester via the medieval market town of Stow-on-the-Wold to Stratford-upon-Avon. Visit SHAKESPEARE’S BIRTHPLACE. The afternoon is dedicated to North Wales. Take a stroll then. Spend the night at Chester, on the Dee River.
• Day 5 Chester; Grasmere; Gretna Green, Scotland; Edinburgh: This morning’s walking tour includes the Roman remains, black and white half-timbered buildings, the cathedral, and the arcades called the “Rows.” The Lake District is one the finest of England’s national parks. Take a break in Wordsworth’s beloved Grasmere, and try original GRASMERE GINGERBREAD. Then, head north for the Scottish border. On the way see history-steeped Lowland Hills, stop at Gretna Green, where the blacksmith used to wed runaway couples. In Edinburgh, don’t miss Scottish evening with Highland dancers, bagpipers, and the Ceremony of the Haggis.
• Day 6 Edinburgh: Morning city sightseeing introduces you to the 200-year-old “New Town,” where scientists, inventors, and novelists lived. On to “Old Town,” and the Royal Mile to EDINBURGH CASTLE and then explore HOLYROOD PALACE. The afternoon is free to enjoy the Scottish capital at your own pace. Later, a unique optional experience: board the former Royal Yacht Britannia, once the perfect royal residence for glittering state visits and family holidays. Dinner rounds off this optional evening.
• Day 7 Edinburgh; Abbotsford; Jedburgh; York, England: First is a guided tour of Sir Walter Scott’s ABBOTSFORD HOUSE. After the tour, enjoy a CUP OF TEA and SHORTBREAD. In York, England’s most complete medieval city, stand in awe in front of the great structure of York Minster, and then follow your Tour Director through a maze of quaint streets including the narrow Shambles.
• Day 8 York; Stamford; Cambridge; London: Leave Yorkshire and drive through the richest farmland in Britain. Pausing in the market town of Stamford before arriving Cambridge. Return to London for your last evening. How about a night out on the town with newfound friends?
• Day 9 London: Your vacation ends with breakfast this morning and a flight back to the US.
